When does
the League start?
The 2009 Season starts August 29th.
There are 8 games in the season played Saturdays September 6 through October 31.
In the event games are canceled due to rain, makeup games will be scheduled at the discresion of the league's board of directors. Coaches will be notified of the revised schedule as required.

Under 6 - 8:00 AM
Under 8 Boys - 10:00 AM
Under 8 Girls - 11:00 AM
Under 10 Boys - 1:00 PM
Under 11 Girls - 12:00 PM
Under 12 Boys - 9:00 AM or 10:00 AM
Under 14 - 8:30 & 10:00 AM
Will my childs team hold practices?
The under 6 league does not hold practices during the week. On Saturdays, the under 6 kids have the field for 1 hour. The first half hour is practice time. and the second half hour is a 3 on 3 scrimmage against the opposing team.
The Under 8 league and older will typically hold 1 practice diring the week. Coaches are responsible to schedule the practice for their own team.
What happens if there is a rainout?
The decision to cancel games due to rain would be made at approx. 7:00 am. Division coordinators would be notified to call their coaches to let them know in ample time to notify their respective teams. The rainout week would then be added onto the end of the schedule thus extending the season. The following weeks games would be played as scheduled.

Please use the MWCC parking
lots. Parking on Green Street is very dangerous for you and your children.
What ages are eligible to play in GYSL?
Boys and girls ages 4 - 13
- as of August 1st.
What equipment
is required?
Only shinpads and team shirts
(provided by GYSL) are required equipment. GYSL also recommends soccer
cleats and mouthguards. It is also recommended that all players should
bring a water bottle to each game.

the game fields at MWCC
Directions to MWCC -
From the east:
Route 2 West to Route 140
North (Exit24B) in Westminster, just past Simplex plant on right. Exit
sign reads: 140 North to Winchendon and Ashburnham. Proceed three miles
on this route. You will pass through two traffic lights. Proceed one-half
mile past the second light and take a left turn onto Matthews Street.
The college entrance is one mile on the right.
From the west::
Take Route 2 East to exit
23 (Gardner, S. Gardner). Go three-quarters of the way around the rotary
to Pearson Blvd. (N). Follow signs to Heywood Hospital. At first set
of lights, take a right onto Elm Street. Continue past the Gardner Public
School (you'll see a giant chair on the lawn) to next rotary. Proceed
straight ahead through rotary (follow sign to MWCC), and continue past
Heywood Hospital (on your left). From the hospital, the college's Green
Street entrance will be about one-third mile on your right.
From the south:
I-190 North from Worcester.
From I-190, take Route 2 West to Route 140 North (Exit 24B) in Westminster,

How are kids selected
to teams?
Players are selected at random
for the various teams. Siblings that play in the same division are paired
together. An attempt is made to keep players who are moving up within
the same division together. However when a player moves up to a higer
division, there are no guarantees that they will be playing with the
same players.
